Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

Item upgrade, also called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment boosts the stat linearly.

Players can recycle six items at once to gauge the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling items scales with their rarity and item level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to increase the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be achieved by a variety of methods such as using upgrade components or increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. A lot of items can be reforged in order to increase their value.

You can find upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available all over all over the world, as well as rewards for missions. Players can also make them. This is not the actual amount at which the glyph will increase a stat, but the maximum value by which it can increase a stat. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the item you're creating it for.

Most upgrade components inserted into items can't be replaced or salvaged without dismantling the equipment in question, except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you do not want to use, but it's not been applied to gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by selecting the Upgrade Item Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel.
