World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades can be used to increase the stats of an item level upgrade. Depending on the upgrade type, it may increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.

When an item gets upgraded, its base stats are increased in value. The value is the sum of all the leveled up benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive, dependent on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to perform. This is due to how many perks must be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.

The level of an item is a widely used measurement of power and can be seen on all item tooltips. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear since PvP is not available at a lower level. The average item level can be found on the character sheet.

Using the item level will allow players to compare the strength of equipment when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a sign of the item's condition and its quality. The level of the item can be used to compare items when evaluating the inventory of a vendor.

On PC, you can view the item level using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the full description of the item, as well as its value. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are several theories on how the item upgrader mod level calculation is carried out. One theory suggests that the item level is calculated by a formula that calculates the value of an item's stats really are. It is based on the fact that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in the sockets increase the value of the item. This process can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl which is typically close to Blizzard's real item level.

However, this isn't the only factor that determines the ilvl of an item, as the level of the region the item is dropped into can alter the value of its stats, for example by adding an amount to its haste or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game makes use of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The base stats on a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modification that are in turn enhanced by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item may increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. For example, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers can be upgraded many times, at higher costs.

Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to provide items with extra damage, special abilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to make them unique by adding a name.

All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window, pressing the green button. This will cost a certain amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, just like the other methods of rerolling.

Players can upgrade an item by specific stats or reroll attaches. The possible stat ranges for an item are determined by the item level, but every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within that range, unless it's an exclusive item or a God roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to roll the affixes, or choose which stats to enhance. Like the base equipment, this would have to be done per item, and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the probability of obtaining items and the properties that are generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player an opportunity to get better equipment earlier in the game. This is particularly advantageous for early game runs, because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increase with each new level of item. It is also possible to be increased with the use of anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can spawn or be crafted with the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to increase the value of 40 luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Additionally some items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items are available in the shop or crafted with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are a costly process and not all upgrades will succeed. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their success rate or prevent themselves from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails.

The success rate of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limitations to how much the success rates can be improved and the chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%.

The Luck of an item may influence the success of an upgrade. Each item has a success rate of 25 percent and every item with Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects could be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
